Vitamin B12 Blood Test
B12 is a vitamin that is necessary for normal red
blood cell (RBC) formation, neurologic function, and DNA production. B12 must be supplied by the diet or supplementation because the body is not able to produce it. People who are deficient in Vitamin B12 may not have any symptoms or may present with symptoms of anemia or nerve damage. General symptoms related to anemia and nerve damage include fatigue, weakness, difficulty concentrating, depression, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, headaches, moodiness, and gastrointestinal symptoms. Some people may not have all or any of these symptoms but still have deficiency. Early detection is important to prevent irreversible damage over time, especially to the nervous system. Generally, people who are likely to have a B12 deficiency have:
Problems absorbing the vitamin
Poor or restricted nutritional intake
Interference from a medication they are taking
Increased energy requirements (eg, pregnancy)
This test may be appropriate for those who:
Have a disorder that causes decreased absorption of certain vitamins or minerals
Have a diet low in vitamin B12-rich foods (dairy, eggs, fish, poultry, or red meat)
Are at risk for gastrointestinal absorption problems such as celiac disease, Crohn disease, partial bowel removal, pernicious anemia, atrophic gastritis
Are pregnant or nursing
Are 65 years and older
Are a recent alcohol abuser
Taking certain medications: long-term use of antacid drugs (proton pump inhibitor and H2 blockers), metformin (a diabetes medication) and chloramphenicol (an antibiotic)
The Vitamin B12 Test does not require fasting.

Tree Pollen Allergy Test Panel
Are you experiencing allergy symptoms and suspect
tree pollens could be the cause? Consider our Tree Pollen Test Panel to measure allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE), an antibody produced in the blood in response to specific tree pollen allergens. Our Tree Pollen Test Panel measures the level of specific IgE antibodies in your blood that activate an immune response to specific tree pollen allergens. This includes antibodies to maple, birch, mountain cedar, oak, elm, walnut, sycamore, cottonwood, white ash, white mulberry, pecan/hickory, olive, and acacia. Pollen is a dust-like substance that helps plants reproduce by being carried from one plant to another by wind, birds, animals, or insects. Although this is a necessary process for plant reproduction, it can make life difficult for those affected by allergies, especially during pollination season. Your immune system produces antibodies against infections, toxins, bacteria, and viruses as it works to keep your body healthy. These antibodies detect and eliminate harmful foreign substances from your body. However, when you have a tree pollen allergy, your body produces antibodies that incorrectly identify these substances as harmful. Antibodies are bound to certain white blood cells (called mast cells). Mast cells bind to antigens to remove them from the body, yet in the process, they are stimulated to release histamine. Different white blood cells known as eosinophils and basophils are also activated by and home in on inflammatory sites, contributing to an allergic response triggered by tree pollen exposure. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to tree pollen may include fatigue, swelling of the eyes, sneezing, headache, and itching of the throat, eyes, nose, and/or mouth. Allergies can be challenging, so it's important to identify which allergens may trigger an allergic response. Our Tree Pollen Test Panel may be helpful in identifying if you have had or currently have an allergic reaction to tree pollens. You may have experienced or experience any of the following signs and symptoms:
Sneezing
Irritated eyes characterized by swelling, redness, watering, scratchiness, itching, and/or puffiness
Congestion
Stuffy or runny nose
Itchy nose, ears, or mouth
Headache
Fatigue
Chest tightness
Wheezing
Increased asthma symptoms

Basic Health Profile
This essential screening is a great place to start
if you want to gain insight into your overall health. It helps identify health conditions ranging from high cholesterol to kidney disease, so you can take informed action towards your health goals. Fasting (not eating or drinking anything except water) for 8-12 hours is recommended but not required. For most, not fasting is acceptable; however, those who choose not to fast may show elevated triglyceride levels.
